AARP Foundation Tax Aid Site Is Now Open

Help is available at the Groton Senior Center

AARP has announced the opening of the Groton AARP Foundation Tax Aide Site at the Groton Senior Center.

"Now through April 17, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation program, helps taxpayers with basic federal and state income tax returns," AARP said in a press release.

The service will provide face-to-face tax assistance, the press release says, with priority given to taxpayers 60 years and older. Services are free for those with low to moderate income levels.

According to the press release, those who would like to use these services should make an appointment at (860) 441-6785 and bring the following: proof of identity, income statements, social security number for taxpayer and dependents, a copy of last year's federal and state tax returns and a personal check if interested in direct deposit.
