UPDATED: Fitch High School Graduation Will Be Held Indoors

Students at Fitch High School Get Ready For the Big Day— Rain or Shine.

Graduation morning opened, for most Fitch High School seniors, with a torrential downpour. Still, whoops and cheers echoed through the Hagerty Auditorium Friday morning during graduation rehearsal.

“This has been an outstanding year,” said Principal Joseph Arcarese. “This is a great senior class and I have built lots and lots of positive relationships with the students. And it’s bittersweet. I’m happy for them—they’re going on to the next chapter in their [lives]—but I’m going to miss them terribly. I really am. They’re a great bunch of kids.”

Tonight’s graduation is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. in Hagerty auditorium. Participating graduates will be issued four tickets to the ceremony with the opportunity to sign up for additional passes on a first come, first served basis after tickets have been distributed.

Guests without tickets will be invited to watch the ceremony in a satellite location (Fitch High School Gymnasium) where the event is being simulcast. The ceremony will also be available online; and rebroadcasts of graduation are scheduled to air throughout the week on GPS 19.

Regardless of location, parents and attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Graduates are required to report in by 5p.m.

“We have a very good graduation committee headed up by Mr. McKenna, our assistant vice principal,” said Principal Arcarese, “and they do an outstanding job. Without them, this would never come off.”
