Book Discussions and an Author Visit from Todd Gipstein and Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day

Five things to know on Thursday, Sept. 19

  1. Today’s supposed to be sunny, with a high near 72, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight is supposed to be clear, with a low around 53.
  2. Thursday muni meetings: Fort Hill Homes NRZ Committee - Special Meeting at Town Hall Annex - Community Room 3 at 5:30;  Permanent School Building Committee at Town Hall Annex - Community Room 1 at 7 p.m.
  3. There’s a blood drive today at the Groton Municipal Building at 295 Meridian Street.
  4. There is also a book discussion at 7 tonight at the Groton Public Library about Little Princes. Parents and community members are invited to this discussion, which will be moderated by Groton schools administrators.
  5. Discover Local Author Todd Gipstein tonight at the Groton Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. Todd Gipstein, a Groton resident and photographer for the National Geographic, will talk about his new novel, Magician’s Choice. Gipstein’s first novel, Legacy of the Light, which was released in 2011, was enormously popular with readers in the region.
