Donate to Groton's Food Pantry, Mystic Art Center Exhibit and a Blood Pressure Clinic

Five things to know about Groton on Tuesday, August 27.

  1. Today we may see scattered showers and thunderstorms before 10am then gradual clearing, with a high near 78, according  to the National Weather Service. Tonight they forecast Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then isolated showers, increasing clouds, with a low around 66. 
  2. The Town Council Committee of the Whole meets in the Town Hall Annex at 6 p.m.; the Poquonnock Bridge Fire District Board of Directors - Special Meeting is at 6:30 in the Groton Senior Center.
  3. Visit the Mystic Art Center’s commemorative exhibit, “Mystic as Muse: 100 Years of Inspiration,” which features paintings, prints, drawings, etc., from artists active in the Mystic Arts Association from the late 19th Century to the present day. The MAC is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  4. Get your blood checked after 11 a.m. today at the Groton Senior Center.
  5. Groton Human Services needs donations to their year-around food pantry. Suggested donations include: Canned fruits & vegetables, pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly, canned chicken and tuna, macaroni and cheese, chunky soups, baked beans, rice and potato mixes.
