This Little Light of Mine
So, with all the holiday hype out there, what do you all think about this whole light thing. Are we really being the shining light or just masking an appearance to try to bring out the light at Christmas. After all, it's the most wonderful time of year, right? Well, how about for those who are alone, or don't have money, or have lost a loved one.
So, if we are busily hanging our Christmas lights outside, making sure we send that special card to people, yet are such a grump at work, or so crazy that we can't even say "excuse me" when we bump into someone, or not have the decency to try to smile to someone once in a while, or are so concerned with advancing in our jobs that we forget that this world isn't just about self but is supposed to be selfless, right? Or, has the light dimmed a bit with all the ugliness out there? I ask you - have we let the energy fizzle a bit? Are we just existing out there wondering around without purpose? I always thought "it" was about "us" and not just "you" and "yours?"
This conversation just came up the other day with a friend about the "new" generation - probably a conversation like our grandparents had a few years back. What are we teaching the young ones here? Is it "our" fault or just "theirs?" This attitude of selfishness I guess I am referring to....not all are in this category - but "you" know who you are! Or do you?
I was blessed and lucky enough to have a friend call me the other day and left the most hilarious message about some life issues and during her great "voice" imitation reminded me of the "light" and that I will be thankful this Christmas for one thing - HUMOR - so, if all else fails, including your lights on Christmas, then try a little laughter and humor to soothe the soul....
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hopi Soyaluna Ceremony, and any other celebrations I have forgotten. May your little light shine on and on and on......
