Big Y Partners of Hope with TBBCF

BIG Y RAISES ALMOST $200,000 FOR BREAST CANCER

In order to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, Big Y Supermarkets raised $194,000 and donated proceeds from their 2012 October initiative, 'Partners of Hope', to 17 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.  Big Y ‘Partners of Hope’ focuses on breast cancer awareness and research.  Since 2007, the Massachusetts-based chain has raised over $863,000 for this cause.

Among the 17 recipients was the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF), where 100% of the funds raised goes directly to breast cancer research.  The Big Y $5,000 donation to TBBCF supports 2013 TBBCF funding for three $100,000 grants to promising breast cancer researchers.  TBBCF, in just seven years, has raised and granted over $2.4 M.

According to Big Y CEO, Donald D'Amour, "I often write about how important our customers' health and well-being are to me. There's a reason I keep returning to that subject, and it's quite simple: It's the truth. Yes, we're a grocery store. But it's my hope that Big Y can be more than that — that we can be a trusted partner in your family's ongoing health and wellness."
