CBA honors Chelsea Groton's Blundon and DeCristofaro as New Leaders in Banking

GROTON, Conn. (January 23, 2013) – The Connecticut Banker’s Association has named Margaret Blundon and Dawn DeCristofaro New Leaders in Banking.  The award recognizes individuals who work in a Connecticut bank, are age 50 or under, are outstanding employees, and have made a notable impact on their bank and community. The two were honored at an awards reception during the annual BankWorld conference on January 18, 2013 at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.

During the reception, Chelsea Groton President and CEO Michael Rauh remarked, “It is great to celebrate the accomplishments of Margaret and Dawn; two outstanding employees who exemplify our customer-first, mutual focus.  The secret of our enduring strength is twofold: our mutuality- our emphasis on customer experience- and our loyal, dedicated employees who make Chelsea Groton a wonderful place to work.  It’s because of their caring, skilled and generous support that our customers feel great about banking with us year after year.”

Nominated by COCC and Chelsea Groton Bank, Blundon was selected as a New Leader in Banking because she leads the team that implemented and manages the business intelligence solution used at the bank; which has automated hundreds of tasks, improved operational efficiency, and provided senior management with data used to guide strategic decisions.   A Chelsea Groton employee since 1993, Blundon has 30 years of banking and business intelligence experience.  Currently, she serves as Assistant Vice President, Business Intelligence Manager.  Also an active member of the community, Blundon is a member of the New London Rotary Club, and volunteers her time at the New London Community Meal Center, TVCCA, and with the New London Elks.  She also serves on the TVCCA’s Carnivale planning committee.  She is a 2000 graduate of the Connecticut School of Finance and Management.

DeCristofaro was honored as a New Leader in Banking for her commitment to providing superior service to clients, outstanding work ethic, productivity, and her expertise in SBA lending.  She has been with Chelsea Groton for 15 years, presently serving as Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer.  Exemplifying Chelsea Groton’s mutual philosophy by giving back to our community, DeCristofaro is a model civic contributor, serving as chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s annual Tommy Toy Fund benefit, board member for the ARC of New London County, and chairperson of the ARC’s annual Pirate Party.  She is a graduate of the Connecticut School of Finance and Management and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s Leadership program.
