Sailors Spruce up Skate Park

The Groton Area Chief Petty Officer Selectees, a group of sailors from the Subase, volunteered their time to paint various elements at Groton's Skate Park in Sutton Park.

About two dozen sailors used over 20 gallons of paint provided by Groton Parks and Recreation to cover up graffiti and paint areas of plain concrete.  The volunteers also cleaned up around the park by picking up trash around the park.

The project was initiated by the sailors, who contacted Groton Parks and Recreation seeking an opportunity to do something for the community.

After several conversations and some planning, the project went off without a hitch. Perfect weather allowed the paint to dry quickly and the park to open after school the same day.

Hats off to the sailors for the fabulous work!
