City of Groton Historical Artifacts Display – OPEN NOW!

Did you know Thames Street was once home to the Groton Cigar Factory?  Perhaps you remember the Max Pollack & Company thread mill on Poquonnock Road.  Many people know about the Griswold Hotel at Eastern Point, built by Morton Plant to accommodate his many out of town guests. A silver lamp, pieces of table and silver ware and other memorabilia will give viewers an idea of the elegant appointments those guests enjoyed.  More recently, residents and tourists could take a ride on the Thames River to “See Submarines by Boat” and then enjoy dinner on a retired ferryboat at the Ferry Restaurant.  The show is on view until August 14 in the main foyer at the City of Groton Municipal Building.  The building is open to the public from 8:30am until 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
