Do You know Keith Phillips
My name is Keith Phillips. After 45 years this wish may be a bit strange. I am an ex-musician and my group (The Keith Phillips VI) played at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Groton many years ago. I am looking for a gentlemen that recorded our group often during our engagement. I have had some unbelievable luck finding recordings we did while in the business. Is there any way through your publication we might make an attempt to find that gentleman. I know it is a real stretch, but my luck has been amazing in finding people and I can’t help but try. I am 74 years old and my children were constantly asking why I didn’t have anything for them to see or hear. I recently found an old video of an appearance we did on the Mike Douglas Show. It is now on Utube. Therefore, I have to try and maybe, just maybe, that gentlemen still has the recordings and I can obtain a copy. With your help, and a little luck, it could happen. Just an old guy chasing his past.
I started the group in 1958 in Indiana. Eventually the group consisted of guys from Indiana, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Texas, and Virginia. From 1959 to 1968 we traveled all over the United States and other parts of the world. First as Keetie & the Kats and later as “The Keith Phillips VI”. We had the pleasure of working with such stars as Gene Krupa, Paul Anka, Bobby Vee, Del Shannon, Al Hirt, Boots Randolph, Roy Orbison, Sammy Davis Jr., and many other rock stars of that era. We recorded several records during that time under both band names. If you would like, I can send you a CD made up of all the tunes we recorded in studios during the time we were together. We were on the Mike Douglas Show in 1966. One of the tunes we played can be found on uTube as Keetie and the Kats.
