Epi Strike Team Looking for Volunteers

Are you interested in helping prevent the spread of disease? You can become a member of a specialized unit of the Ledge Light Health District Medical Reserve Corps by training to be part of the Disaster Epi-Strike Team.

This team, which was formed in September 2013, is trained in emergency field epidemiology and would be deployed into communities to assess needs in the immediate aftermath of the next infectious disease outbreak, natural or manmade disaster.

The upcoming Outbreak Investigation training will cover the basics of disease surveillance, epidemiological investigation and how to assist in interviewing potential victims. The training will be held on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Groton Senior Center at 102 Newtown Road in Groton.
