Fairview to Break Ground on Thames Edge Construction

(GROTON, CT) August 16, 2013 – Fairview, the Odd Fellows Home of Connecticut, will break ground on Thames Edge, a community of new homes, on September 7, 2013. Thames Edge is a well-planned construction project that will create 23 new homes during its first phase on the Fairview campus. The new homes will be part of a larger Continuing Care Retirement Community, located less than half a mile from the Thames River in Groton Connecticut. The ground breaking ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 7 at 2:00 pm at 235 Lestertown Road Groton, CT.

Thames Edge represents a new phase of growth and development at Fairview. Partnering with architects at Amenta/Emma Architect and KBE Building Corporation, the Fairview team has planned a community with customizable universal design homes, a clubhouse, social spaces, fitness areas and access to the well-respected continuum of care offered by Fairview. Living at Thames Edge will provide people with spacious, one-level living and access to a diverse range of activities and services that fit their personal needs.

Thames Edge will enable Fairview, a non-profit organization, to offer single-family homes with innovative universal designs that are aesthetically attractive, comfortable and can accommodate a wide range of individual preferences. In addition to serving residents, Thames Edge will also create jobs and impact the local economy. During the first phase, 50-100 construction jobs will be created. Once the second phase is complete, Thames Edge will create multiple permanent jobs. In total, the new construction will positively impact the economy in increased purchasing and local employment.
