Groton Long Point Tax Case Against Town Named as Class Action

More than 600 residents can now take part in the case that alleges the Groton Long Point properties were unjustly assessed.

The Town of Groton is now facing a class-action suit from the residents of Groton Long Point contesting the fairness of property assessment over the last five years, The Day reports.

More than 600 residents could participate in the case now that New Britain Superior Court Judge Henry S. Cohn changed the suit's status, according to The Day.

Residents who raised the issue claim that property taxes on the area's homes increased an average of $5,645 over the last five years, a jump that was not matched in other parts of town, The Day reports.
