Groton Utilities Asks Residents to Conserve Water

The water main pipes are being repaired

Two water main pipes on Poquonnock Road were damaged recently and crews have been working to repair the pipes since early Thursday. Water was shut off to some customers for a time and a portion of the road was closed as crews worked to uncover the damaged pipes.

By Friday morning, water had been restored and the road was open to two-way traffic but Groton Utilities is asking customers to try and conserve water.

They posted on their website, "As a result of the recent water main break on Poquonnock Road, Groton Utilities is requesting all customers take steps to conserve water consumption until further notice.

Some customers may continue to experience water discoloration over the next several days. The water continues to be safe for consumption.
