Josh Paquette of Groton is an Eagle Scout. He’s been one for months, but it wasn’t officially official until the ceremony last Friday when his fellow Troop 76 members and leaders family and Sen. Andy Maynard all honored the scout for his Eagle Scout project; a crushed stone and paver walkway around the perimeter of the community garden at Stonington Human Services.
The Fitch High School senior, who will be graduating in June, asked the human services department what, if any, help they might need. He and then-human services director Beth Stewart walked the property near Stonington High School (where, coincidentally, Josh’s father Tim runs the award-winning food service program) and it was decided that a path for access to the popular community garden would be much appreciated. And so that’s what he did. With the help of his parents and assistance and advice from scout leaders to receive national and local approval, his project was under way.
Josh wanted to thank the following local businesses for their support and donations:
Johnson’s True Value Hardware
Tilcon Connecticut
UBS
McQuade’s Ace Hardware
Cook’s Rentals
Big Y
