Saturday is the last day of The Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut’s 58th Annual Tag Sale in Groton – one of the largest tag sales in New England - and nearly everything will be 50 percent off.

The agency raised $20,000 on its first sale day Thursday, said Lynn Fairfield-Sonn, director of development and community relations for the agency.

The sale includes furniture, jewelry, clothing, books, sporting goods, toys and more. Some of the items on display: a dining room table, a futon, televisions, women’s suits and cowboy hats.

“People are coming and people are buying,” said Mary Dangremond, co-chair of the tag sale. In the afternoon, she modeled jackets and other clothes for shoppers so they could see what they looked like.

“Sometimes they walk away with them,” she said.

All proceeds from the sale support services for children and families such as mental health care, child care, health care, treatment of family violence and prevention of child abuse.
