Historic Postcard Exhibit Reception @ MNL

Local historian and volunteer at the Stanton-Davis Homestead Museum, Carol Sommer, is mounting an exhibit of historic postcards from the museum’s collection at the Mystic & Noank Library through September, 2012.  A reception is planned for Thursday, September 13 from 4pm – 5pm.

Built circa 1670 by Thomas Stanton, one the four founders of Stonington, the Homestead has remained in the family for eleven generations.  The house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is full of treasures of all sorts, including postcards sent to family members.  Sommer is cataloguing the postcard collection, and has agreed to mount an exhibit of some of her favorites.

The exhibit is in the Ames Room of the Mystic & Noank Library, 40 Library Street in Mystic, CT, and will be available for viewing during Library hours.  For more information, call (860) 536-7721.
