RIVERFRONT CHILDREN’S CENTER ANNUAL SILENT AUCTION

The Riverfront Children’s Center will host their sixth Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser on Friday, October 14, from 7-10pm in the galleries of the Mystic Arts Center.   Each year, Riverfront welcomes guests to the Silent Auction, offering an outstanding selection of items for bidding including original works by professional artists, gift certificates for goods or services at local shops, spas and businesses, memberships and admission passes to area attractions and museums, theater tickets, gift items, and much more.  Event guests will enjoy live music by well-known local guitarist Lou Manzi, wine bar, hors d’oeuvres and ‘wicked-good’ desserts throughout the evening.  Franco Carofano, long-time New London County radio personality, and Mame Green of the Salmagundi Art Club in New York will be Masters of Ceremony.

New this year, a live auction will follow the close of silent auction bidding.  Live auction items are: a cruise for four on a 49’ Classic Hinkley Ketch, tickets to the Maestro George Kent’s final Fall Classical Concert with the Chorus of Westerly, a table for four at the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den, including a pre-show buffet, and a private tour for up to ten guests at the historic Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum in Providence, Rhode Island.

Discounted advance sale tickets may be purchased now by calling Susan Bailey at the Riverfront Children’s Center at 860-445-2831 or 860-445-8151.  Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.00 on event night, and free parking is provided in the Mystic Arts Center’s downtown lot for event guests.  Please call the Center for additional information.

The Riverfront Children’s Center is a state licensed, 501-(c)-(3) nonprofit providing accredited Early Learning and full-time care to over one hundred local children each day.    All proceeds of the Annual Auction benefit the Riverfront Tuition Assistance Fund, which awards need based scholarships to at risk children.   Riverfront helps prepare children to enter school ready to succeed both academically and socially.  The Center has raised thousands of scholarship dollars for children over the past five years of this event, helping them prepare for success in school.  Investment in building a strong educational foundation for them now returns dividends throughout their public school experience and beyond.

Every child deserves access to high quality care and early education, regardless of race, ethnicity or economic background.    Riverfront reaches out to working families who would otherwise be unable to afford these services, allows parents to keep working and helps keep families out of assistance programs.  In addition, the Center’s outreach programs for parents help them guide their lives toward independence and success as contributing members of the community.  The cumulative effect of programs for families served by the Riverfront Children’s Center is huge and measurable for both children and parents, and truly makes a difference in their lives and to our community.
