Person Of Interest, Prime Suspect, The Secret Circle

Tonight's TV Tips

Person of Interest, 9 p.m., CBS

I am very interested in this, because it comes from my beloved JJ Abrams, it stars Michael Emerson, who played one of the single greatest characters on modern television (Benjamin Linus from Lost), and it involves post-9/11 Big Brother techno spying stuff. Plus, CBS usually picks smart dramas, as opposed to the numbskull ones other networks opt for.

Prime Suspect, 10 p.m., NBC

Now, it is true that NBC has had dismal luck with remakes of British shows, but this is a cop show, not a sitcom, and it was the one with Helen Mirren, which means it was smart from the start. So I am checking my doubts at the door and checking this out.

The Secret Circle, 9 p.m., CW

I mocked this last week and then I accidentally started watching it and darn them if they didn’t snag me. One of the teens is John Connor from my dearly departed Sarah Connor Chronicles, the star is the appealing girl from Life Unexpected, and the mean girl is one of the mermaids from one of my daughter’s former favorites, H20. So I am watching tonight to see if it stays fun.
