UPDATE: Downed Ledyard Tree Responsible for Outage; CL&P Reports Power Restored

CL&P investigating the cause.

Update at 11:40 a.m.: CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross said a downed tree, which took wires with it, was the reason for the outage. Power has since been restored.

Close to 1,300 households are without power Thursday morning in Groton, Stonington, Ledyard and North Stonington.

The outages:
  • Groton: 640
  • Ledyard: 293
  • North Stonington: 53
  • Stonington: 673 

Connecticut Light and Power spokesman Mitch Gross said at about 9:15 this morning power outages were reported. Gross said they don't have a definitive cause and crews are patrolling the areas to determine the cause and are working to restore power as soon as possible.
