Buried Under Comics Faces Uncertain Future

Wednesdays are the day that new comic books arrive, so typically Buried Under Comics, the long-time and popular comic book shop on West Middle Turnpike, is a hubbub of activity on Wednesdays, with customers coming not just from Manchester but all over the state to pick up new books and socialize. 

But not so this week. The store, its staff and customers are still reeling from the , and the store wasn't even open Wednesday. 

, who had owned the store for more than 18 years, was 46 when he died at Manchester Memorial Hospital Saturday from complications of a heart attack. 

Calling hours for Kozicki were held Aug. 23, at the Holmes Funeral Home on 400 Main St. in Manchester. The burial will be private.

But, beyond that, staff at the store told Patch this week that they do not know the future of Buried Under Comics, or whether the popular comic book store will even have a future. Kozicki left behind no surviving wife or children, but was survived by a mother, brother, sister and several nieces and nephews. 

It appears now that the fate of the store will be in the hands of Kozicki's surviving family. Staff at the store told Patch this week that they did not know the future of Buried Under Comics and were not in a position to comment on the situation.
