She said the combination of the recession, streetscape project and Mystic bridge repair has been hard on businesses, and they need local customers.

The bulk of the streetscape project, a $3.6 million plan to replace sidewalks, install granite curbs and bury utilities, will be done by June 30.

Downtown stores have planned a sidewalk sale on May 5 and 6.

What do you think? Will you stop at a dowtown Mystic business in May?
