Electric Boat Awarded $430 Million Navy Contract

Most of the work will be done in Groton.

Editor's note: U.S. Rep. Joseph Courtney made this annoucement today:

The U.S. Navy awarded Groton-based Electric Boat a $429.1 million contract modification for design, planning and technical support for the Navy’s active nuclear submarines. The contract will be incrementally funded, and 73 percent of its work will be performed at Groton.

“This comes on the heels of yesterday’s testimony by Secretary of Defense Panetta that he regards our submarine fleet as ‘indispensible,’” said Congressman Courtney. “EB has repeatedly demonstrated that they can do the work asked of them on time and without costly overruns. This is tremendous news for EB, our local economy and our region.”
