Exhibit Showcases Photography, Friendship

'An Eye for Photography' runs through April 6 at the Gallery at Lighthouse

"An Eye for Photography," a show of work by Gail Mille and Kathryn Dupont, opened Friday at Lighthouse Gallery on Long Hill Road.

Mille and Dupont, real estate brokers, met through business and discovered that they shared an interest in photography.

Mille had been taking photos for many years and Dupont was new to the art. As they traveled for their real estate work, Mille took pictures of abandoned buildings and statues in cemeteries - some of the many subjects that interest her.

At Mille's urging, Dupont began shooting more, as well, taking photos of nature, and photographs often with a focus on something she loves - the color red. Also, they began photographing weddings together.

In the Lighthouse show, their work is hung together, without attribution. It might be Mille's work; it might be Dupont's. They told Curator Chris Rose that they work collaboratively and did not want to draw distinctions or divide the show.

There are many intriguing pieces in the show, and many priced where regular people can purchase - $10 or $15. The collaboration and the themes of decay, nature, and the color red run as an interesting thread throughout the show.

The Gallery at Lighthouse is part of the Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center. It is located at 744 Long Hill Road, and is open from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays by appointment.

A portion of every sale of artwork goes to support the Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center.
