Franklin’s General Store Awarded Business of the Month

Each month, the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce highlights a member business deserving of special recognition. We are thrilled to announce Franklin’s General Store as the June recipient of the Business of the Month award. 

Throughout May we received many nominations for businesses for their outstanding community involvement, major improvements, achievements, and overall successes.  Franklin’s embodies all of this.

Franklin’s General Store was founded in 1985 as one of the early tenants of Olde Mistick Village and has since been a model of excellence in our community.

Staying true to their product philosophy of providing customers with authentic wares of New England, Franklin’s compelling merchandise is comprised almost exclusively of products made locally. Eighty percent of their revenues in 2011 came from products made in New England, and nearly forty percent from products made specifically Connecticut.

By providing an excellent atmosphere for employees, Franklin’s has created an extremely positive customer service atmosphere. They have increased their effective workforce by over thirty percent in the past four years, providing employees with benefits and incentives that reward hard work and results.

Upon transfer of ownership in 2008, all employees were retained and within thirty days were given a pay increase. An environment that fosters team spirit and a sense of pride in serving customers makes Franklin’s a very enjoyable place to work and visit.
