Business: Jason T. Cerro, Licensed Professional Counselor

Location: 3175 Gold Star Highway, Unit 104, G3 Mystic

When and how did your business get started? I started my private counseling practice in September of 2012. Initially, I was accepting clients part time and now have grown it to a full time practice where I am still accepting new clients. I was teaching full time as a Health Education Teacher and wanted to extend my help to those who needed one on one time to work through some personal struggles. I knew I could help people of all ages find answers to their depression and anxiety and live a more joyful life.

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business? I chose Mystic for my business location because I provide counseling services for many school districts in the Connecticut and Rhode Island area.

What is your business best known for? My business is best known for my help with pre-teen and teenage boys struggling with a variety of issues that include: academic and behavioral issues in school, behavior problems at home, and relationship conflicts with parents, teachers, and peers. I work extensively with children and teens struggling with ADHD and emotional struggles. My client base in very diverse as I also help adults find more peace, joy, and better relationships with those closest to them.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know? Working in the public school system for many years has provided me with experience and expertise in being able to help parents navigate the complicated educational system to best serve the needs of their children. I help parents sort through the educational jargon and technical terms so that it makes sense to them and produces a better academic experience for their children.
