Pfizer Jobs in Groton Outsourced Overseas

Pfizer contractors learned that they are eligible for extended benefits after their jobs were moved overseas.

Former business analysts and managers formerly employed by Pfizer found out that they qualify for extended unemployment benefits and salary subsidies after the government verified that their jobs were moved overseas this week.

Pfizer has laid off 1,1000 people since July 2010 and contracted their jobs out to people in China or the United Kingdom, according to the Hartford Courant.

Workers who have been laid off as a result of overseas outsourcing may qualify for certain benefits under the Trade Adjustment Assistance program available at all CT Works locations. The benefits include tuition assistance for training programs, partial relocation expenses and temporary wage subsidies for workers over the age of 50 who take jobs paying less than the one they lost.

The U.S. Department of Labor is expected to make another determination on more petitions submitted by former Pfizer contractors this month.
