Seahorse Passes Sea Trial With Flying Colors

Noank landmark to reopen officially on Wednesday

The day before the official start of summer, the Seahorse reopened its doors to serve food and drink to parched sailors and landlubbers alike.

Bill Spicer, owner of Spicer’s Marina, bought the Seahorse and remodeled it after the restaurant at 65 Marsh Road closed in January.

Spicer asked Thomas Tsagarakis, who owns Zack’s Bar & Grille in Stonington, to lease and run it. The gutted the place and renovated the kitchen, bar and dining room.

On Monday, Tsagarakis and his wife Lynn held a dry run for the restaurant. Invited guests were asked to order off the menu as the new wait staff and kitchen went through their paces. All agreed the food was good and the Seahorse was back.

The restaurant will be open for real Wendesday at 11:30 a.m. The menu will offer what used to be served at the Seahorse – lots of seafood, burgers and sandwiches, and a dinner menu that includes steak, Bomster scallops, seafood pot pie and pasta dishes. There is also a children’s menu.
