Worker Killed At Electric Boat in Quonset Point

Employee fatally injured Monday at Rhode Island plant location

A man working at Electric Boat's Quonset Point facility has been killed in an accident.

A statement from General Dynamics Electric Boat said the employee was fatally injured around 11 a.m. on Monday. It did not say how.

The man was taken to Kent Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The company said he was employed by a subcontractor working for the general contractor constructing a new manufacturing building. His name was not released.

The company says it is investigating the circumstances of the accident and cooperating with local, state and federal agencies.

Quonset Point General Manager Sean Davies says the company is extremely saddened by the man's death.

Electric Boat spokesman Robert Hamilton said no more information was being released.
