DISCOVER What's New with Groton Parks and Recreation

Welcome to the new Groton Parks and Recreation blog on Patch.com! We look forward to sharing the latest information about what is happening with Groton Parks and Recreation with you here.

There are so many wonderful things about our town that you can discover with Parks and Recreation. There are some exciting opportunities this fall that you won’t want to miss:

·         September is National Senior Center Month – celebrate with special activities and prizes at the Groton Senior Center.

·         Shennecossett Golf Course is now offering a $400 promotional off-season membership. Enjoy golfing with no restrictions from now until March 31. Call the pro shop at 860-448-1867 for more details.

·         The Groton Fall Festival is October 12 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Poquonnock Plains Park. The event is a highlight of the fall community calendar, bringing together hundreds of vendors from all over the area to showcase what they do best.

·         The Groton Elementary/Middle School Cross-Country Race (GEMS) will be held Sunday, October 13 at 2 p.m. at Washington Park. GEMS is a fun run for all New London County students in grades 3-8. Runners compete at a distance of 0.8 miles for elementary schoolers and 1.5 miles for middle schoolers. Registration is FREE however t-shirts are only guaranteed to participants who register by September 27th. To register online, visit grotonrec.com.

·         Parks and Recreation is offering the DEEP Safe Boating class, October 22-24 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at William Seely School. There is a $20 fee for the course. Interested participants can register on grotonrec.com.
