There is a meeting scheduled on the Noank School Garden proposal, open to the Public and Town Officials, on Thursday March 13, 2014 at the Groton Public Library from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The previous meeting in February had to be canceled because of a snowstorm. This new meeting will be an open discussion of the proposal being offered by three Groton residents to create a non-profit public garden coupled with an agricultural learning program for Groton students. The intent is also to create a program eligible for both state and federal funding, thus eliminating additional taxes for Groton residents. It is likely to include a recommendation that the Town itself retain ownership of the property and become a partner in the operation. It is expected that a formal presentation will be made to the Groton Town Council during April, 2014.
