Bikini-Clad Sisters Sell Lemonade and Sweet Tea to Raise Funds to Fix Car (with Video)

So far, sales are slow, but the sisters are optimistic.

When Kailyn Corcoran was just a kid, she remembers, she raised $60 once selling lemonade.

So when her sister Brooke's car conked out in Norwich, and was towed to Shantok Motors, she had a brainstorm. She and Brooke would do what worked so well when they were little.

Tuesday's warm afternoon sun found the sisters (Brooke is 19, Kailyn, 22) in front of their home on the Norwich New London Turnpike, wearing bikinis and holding signs advertising their sweet tea and lemonade.

Between the towing fee and the repairs the car needs, they're hoping to raise more than $350. Both sisters are out of work right now. Kailyn is a Certified Nurse's Assistant, and Brooke worked as a dietary aide.

Jamie at Shantok Motors smiles when he hears about the sisters' lemonade stand. Shantok isn't charging the Corcorans a storage fee, he says. If they come down and get the car in the next couple of days, he says, they'll be fine.

The tea and lemonade is priced at whatever donation the buyer wants to make. Tuesday, they collected a little more than $30. Mostly, Kailyn said, they got beeps and waves. Not so many people actually stopped.

They've made only a small dent in what they owe, but, undaunted by the meager beginning, plan to be out in front of their home at 511 Norwich New London Turnpike (across from McDonald's) today, if the weather is nice.
