Daily Five: A Flea Market, A ‘Mud Run’ and a Cat Show

Five Things To Know Wednesday, April 17

1.  Today is Wednesday, April 17. The National Weather Service predicts partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 63 degrees. The low will drop to 42 degrees tonight. 

2.  Groton Senior Citizens Club 55 will hold their annual Flea Market from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on April 20 at the Groton Senior Center. The event features books, furniture, crafts and other items for sale from vendors. There will also be grinders and soup available and a bake sale.  

3.  A 5K “Mud Run” fundraiser is scheduled for April 27 at Fields of Fire Paintball Park at 715 Noank Ledyard Road in Mystic to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Adults and children ages 10 to 17 may participate. The cost is $30 per person, or $35 at the door. To register, go to www.bgcse.org.  

4.  Americats TICA Cat Club will hold a cat show from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 27 and 28 at Ella T. Grasso Technical High School. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students and seniors and free for children 12 and under, and active duty military. A can of cat food for a shelter donation gets $1 off admission. 5.  Shoreline Roller Derby will hold an Earth Day Craft Fair from11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 21 at the Dolphin Gardens Community Center in Base Housing at 45 Proteus Avenue. The fair will feature local goods such as homemade quilts, blankets, scarves, jewelry, soaps and other bath items.
