1.  Today is Friday, Jan. 20.  It'll be a snowy weekend. The National Weather Service predicts mostly cloudy skies on Friday, then gradual clearing and a high temperature of 36 degrees. There's a chance of snow after midnight.

On Saturday, the weather service forecasts snow, mainly after noon, a high temperature of 35 degrees and an east wind of 9 to 14 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

There's a chance of more snow before midnight, then a slight chance of rain, snow, and sleet. The low will fall to 30. Snow and rain are forecast for Sunday.

2.  An informational meeting on the new Noank Community Market will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday at . Find out about the cooperative market, what it will offer the community and how to become a member.

4.  The Groton Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition meets at noon on Monday in the police station on Groton Long Point Road. The coalition meets once a month and advocates for programs, policy changes and practices that prevent drug and alcohol abuse. The meeting is open to the public.
