Daily Five: Board of Education Will Hear Redistricting Update Tonight

Five Things To Know Monday, Sept. 10

1.  Today is Monday, Sept. 10.  The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 72 degrees. The low will fall to 49 degrees tonight.

2.  The Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. today in the Town Hall Annex and will consider topics including redistricting, hiring, the budget and the superintendent.

The policy committee will meet earlier, at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex and will discuss topics including the attendance policy the night school diploma program whether to increase the credit requirement from 20 to 23 credits.

3.  The has announced that Dressbarn will be opening in the mall in October.

"We are happy to offer women yet another fashion option at Crystal Mall," Mall Manager Karen Tarantino said in a mall press release. “Dressbarn adds clothing and accessories that are stylish and trendy at comparative prices.”

Dressbarn, which sells dresses and other clothes and accessories for women, will open on the upper level across from Bath & Body Works, according to the release.

4.  The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, which awards grants to local groups and scholarships to students, will hold its September Evening Celebration from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 at the home of Paula Clifford Scott, at 757 River Road in Mystic. 5.  The Mystic Fire Department will hold a “wetdown” ceremony to celebrate its new fire boat at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 in the Mystic River Park in Mystic.
