Daily Five: Community Meetings On School Redistricting Scheduled

Five Things To Know, Friday, April 13

 

1.  Today is Friday, April 13. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 57 degrees. The low will drop to 40 degrees tonight.

2.  The Groton School Department has scheduled community meetings starting Wednesday to talk to residents about All meetings will be on the same topic, so parents and others may attend any one of the three.

The meetings will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the following dates: April 18 at Mary Morrisson Elementary School gymnasium; April 19 at Fitch Middle School auditorium; and April 25 at Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School auditorium

 3.  The Annual Sale continues today at Grasso Technical High School in Groton. The sale, which features furniture, jewelry, clothing, sporting goods, toys and more, raises money to provide services for children and families such as mental health care, child care, health care, treatment of family violence and prevention of child abuse. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and Saturday at the school at 189 Fort Hill Road.

4.  The Stonington/North Stonington and Ledyard Tea Party groups will hold a rally from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at the intersection of Rt. 27 and Coogan Blvd., on the sidewalk in front of the Olde Mistick Viillage sign. The group is holding the rally to promote fiscal restraint, limited government and free markets.

5.  If you enjoy classic movies, the Groton Public Library will show “Singin’ in the Rain” at 2 p.m. on April 18. The 1952 movie stars Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor and Gene Kelly, and runs for 103 minutes. The movie is free and open to the public.
