Daily Five: Election Day, A Veterans Day Celebration, and A Wreath Sale

Five Things To Know, Tuesday, Nov. 6

 

1.  Today is Tuesday, Nov. 6. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 48 degrees. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 36 degrees.

2.  It’s Election Day – make sure you get out there and vote! Schools are closed due to a professional development day for teachers.

3.  West Side Middle School will hold a Veterans Day Celebration on Friday at the school, with breakfast at 8:45 a.m. and a ceremony from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.  All interested veterans are invited to attend, and can contact the school using the invitation attached to this announcement on Patch. The RSVP date has been moved to Nov. 7 due to the storm.

4.  Riverfront Children's Center has started accepting orders for its Annual Holiday Wreath Fundraiser. Wreaths are $14 each or two for $25, and brought from Maine to the children’s center and decorated with red bows. All proceeds benefit Riverfront’s tuition scholarship program for at-risk children. 5.  The Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern CT is still accepting children into its after-school program at Claude Chester Elementary, and serves students through fifth grade. The program is open from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. The cost is $75 a week. For more information, call (860) 574-9040.
