Daily Five: Election Day And An Open House At Grasso Tech

Five Things To Know Tuesday, Nov. 8.

1.  Today is Tuesday, Nov. 8.  The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 61 degrees. The low will fall to 44 tonight.

2.  Remember to cast your ballots today for Town Council, Board of Education and Representative Town Meeting in Groton. If you're looking for a voter's guide to familiarize yourself with candidates, here's some background information as well as Q&As with the candidates.

3.  The from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the GNC on Route 12 if you haven't bought any yet.  Cookies are $4 per box.

4.  The first nationwide emergency alert will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesady, so if you hear sirens, that's what it is.  The alert will be aired over radio, television and cable simultaneously, and may also include sirens outside. The test was set up to give the President a way to speak to the public in an emergency, and will last up to three and a half minutes.

5.  Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School holds its open house from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at the school.  Grasso Tech combines academics with 11 technical programs that teach skills such as automotive technology, carpentry and drafting.
