Daily Five: Get Those Boats In The Water!

Five things to know for Thursday March 8, 2012

1. Is this weather heavenly, or what? Noaa.gov calls for more of the same today, but not tonight: "Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 18 and 24 mph. Tonight, scattered showers, mainly after 7pm."

2. Eighth-grade students are invited to participate in an essay contest the state Attorney General is sponsoring in recognition of Law Day on May 1. The topic is “Should the government pass a law setting a minimum age for kids to join social networking sites?  Or, should it be left up to parents, kids and/or the social networking sites themselves to determine and enforce age restrictions on joining such sites?  If the government should make the rules, what should be the minimum age?” Entries should be no more than two double-spaced pages and submitted to the AG's Office or postmarked by March 28. Mail to: AG Office, 55 Elm St., P.O. Box 120, Hartford CT 06106 or email to attorney.general@ct.gov, subject line Law Day Essay.

3. Does this weather make you want to get that boat in the water? is accepting registration into its three-day DEEP State Boating class, for individuals age 10 & older, March 20-22, 2012.   The class fee is $20 per student.  Classes are held at William Seely School from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.
