Daily Five: Giving Back, Being Honored

In this season of giving but within the context of the tough economic times, it is always nice to read about local businesses giving back. has adopted a local family through the Norwich Human Services Office holiday ‘Adopt-a-Family’ program. 3. In lieu of having a holiday party this year for the southeastern Connecticut Patches, the group decided to make donations to local charities. In Groton, we made a donation to the emergency medical fund. This group works with and was instrumental in helping to find homes for the earlier this year.

4. State Sen. Andrew Maynard (D-Stonington), who represents Groton, was honored as a 2011 Legislator of the Year by the Connecticut Police Chief’s Association.
