Daily Five: In The Mood For Roller Derby?

Five things to know for Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012

1. Today is Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012. How are those resolutions going? Bundle up today, according to noaa.gov: Mostly sunny, with a high near 28. West wind between 11 and 15 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

2. Want to be a part of Shoreline Roller Derby? SLRD is looking for skaters of all skill levels, officials (both  skating & non-skating) and volunteers. There is a recruitment event at Sunday, Jan. 15 from 6:15pm to 8:30pm. You must be 21 or older. Skaters need: proof of health insurance, ID, equipment, (helmet, knee & elbow pads, wrist guards and a mouthguard). Skates will be available to rent. You can fill out the recruitment form here. According to an article in the Hartford Courant, roller derby is all the rage.

3. Speaking of getting a workout, if one of your New Year's Resolutions was to get in shape, but you have no clue where to start, check out the gyms in our Places directory.
