Daily Five: School Board To Discuss Interim Superintendent Position Tonight

Five Things To Know Tuesday, Sept. 4

1.  Today is Tuesday, Sept. 4.  The National Weather Service predicts cloudy skies, a high temperature of 75 degrees and a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Showers will continue tonight and the low will drop to 69 degrees.

2.  The Groton Board of Education will meet from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today in the school administrative offices to discuss the interim superintendent's position. The board , but Collins said Groton will likely need another interim.

Collins was appointed to take over for Superintendent Paul Kadri, and the school board voted last week to tell Kadri it is considering terminating his contract. Board members made the decision him of abusive and threatening behavior. , saying the allegations are untrue.

3.  The Groton Parks and Recreation Department is taking registrations for its fall and winter programs, outlined in the “Discover” magazine available in town buildings. For more information, see the website at www.grotonrec.com/Discover.

5.  The Groton Senior Center and Windham Falls Estates will sponsor a charity dance from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sept. 28 to benefit Groton Senior Center programs. The event, “Puttin’ On The Ritz” will include hors d’oeuvres, dancing and a performance by The Paul King Orchestra. The cost is $20. For more information, call (860) 441-6785.
