Daily Five: School Facilities Task Force Meets Tonight

1.  Today is Tuesday, Jan. 29.  The National Weather Service predicts areas of fog this morning, mostly cloudy skies, a high temperature of 42 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain tonight. The low will fall to 37 degrees.

2.  The newly-established school facilities task force will hold its first meeting at 7 p.m. today in the Town Hall Annex. The group was assembled to create a plan for the long-term future of Groton Public Schools, including future school construction.

3.  Groton Public Library will show the Happy movie at 7 p.m. today. This film tries to answer the question of what makes people happy, and combines stories of people and science. The movie won the Student Choice Award at the Telluride Mountain Film Festival.

4.  Mystic & Noank Library is offering a free class at 6 p.m. on Wednesday on building your retirement income. Lansdowne Wealth Management is hosting the class to help people approaching retirement build a successful financial plan.

5.  Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center at 109 Pequotsepos Road in Mystic, will hold a writer's group at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Writers of all levels are welcome, and the program is free.
