Five Things To Know Today

A Movie, Local Artists and A Tag Sale

1.  Today is Friday, March 4.  The National Weather Service predicts mostly cloudy skies and a high near 35 degrees. Tonight will also be cloudy, with a low around 32 degrees.

2.  The Groton Public Library's Independent Film Series will show the 2009 drama "Nurse.Fighter.Boy", a Canadian film, from 7 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. today. The movie is in English and the event is free. To see the event listing, click here.

3.  The Gallery At Lighthouse in Groton holds a local artists' opening reception from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center on Long Hill Road. The show, by Carrie Jacobson and Laura Maiolo, is a welcome relief from the snow we have all endured. It will run through March 28. For more information, click here.

4.  The Animal Welfare League of New London County will be at the Boilmakers Lodge from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday to collect donations for the Have a Heart Tag Sale. Stop in at 33 Sacred Heart Drive in Groton if you have a few minutes; they're especially looking for pet-related donations. To see the event listing, click here.
