Five Things To Know Today

The Budget, An Upcoming Blood Drive, And The Groton Parent Council

1.  Today is Tuesday, March 15.  The National Weather Service forecasts sunny skies with a high temperature near 44 degrees today, and a low of about 30 degrees tonight. Clouds will move in tonight, and there's a chance of rain after 3 a.m., the weather service said.

2.  Town Manger Mark Oefinger will release the proposed town budget for the coming fiscal year to the Groton Town Council tonight. The council meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex, and is also expected to formally set a referendum date for the proposed reconstruction of Thames Street and the proposed school construction program.

3.  The Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1:30 until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 in the Groton Municipal Building, 295 Meridian St. Extension in Groton. For more information, click here.

4.  The Groton Public Library Circle of Friends holds their annual business meeting today at 6:30 p.m. in the library.  The group helps the library by providing money for special projects. Tonight's meeting will elect officers and receive updates on various library programs. For more information, click here.

5.  The Groton Parent Council meets from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. today in the media center at Charles Barnum Elementary School on Briar Hill Road.
