Five Things To Know Today

A Technology Showcase, The Upcoming Budget Public Hearing And A Crafts Festival

1.  Today is Friday, March 25. The National Weather Service says it'll be sunny, with a high temperature near 41 degrees. The low will drop to 20 degrees tonight. 

2.   The Groton Public Schools will host an event from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Fitch High School to showcase the latest technology available to students.  The progam will include demonstrations of interactive white boards and tours of a mobile, high-technology classroom. A light reception will be offered. Door prizes including an iPad and Kindles.

3.   The Groton Town Council's Public Hearing on the budget is coming up, at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Groton Senior Center. If you have thoughts on the proposed $121.89 million budget for the coming fiscal year, this is an opportunity to make your voice heard.  The budget proposal includes increased spending for education, debt service and subdivisions like Groton City and Groton Long Point.

4.  The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival starts at 10 a.m. today at the Connecticut Expo Center, and runs through the weekend. Admission is $9 for adults, free for children age 12 and younger. For more information, click here.

5.  The Mystic Independent Theater in Stonington holds an open-mic night at 7 p.m. on Saturday, with sign-ups at 6:30 p.m. The first 15 acts to sign up get to perform. To find out more, click here.
