Five Things To Know Today

Budget Deliberations, The Anime Club and A Seminar For New Businesses

1.  Today is Thursday, March 31.  The National Weather Service predicts a slight chance of rain and snow, then rain. The high temperature will be about 42 degrees, and little or no snow will accumulate.

2.  The Groton Town Council begins reviewing the $121.89 million proposed budget at 6 p.m. today in the Town Hall Annex, during a meeting of the council's committee of the whole.  Many residents spoke out against a potential property tax increase during a public hearing on the budget Tuesday.

3.  The Anime Club, a gathering for fans of all things Japanese, meets from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. today in the Groton Public Library. The program is free and open to students in grades six and up. To see the event listing, click here.

4.   The University of Connecticut's Technology Incubation Program seminar will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29 at the UConn-Avery Point campus in Groton. Topics include different programs available in Eastern Connecticut and financing for companies in their early stages.
