Cash Seized As Evidence, Preference To Groton Business, And Tax Refunds

2.  Groton's accounting division recently set up an escrow account to deposit cash seized as evidence by Groton police during arrests. The police department had been keeping cash in evidence lockers in the department. Now detectives bring it to the town to be deposited twice a week. In March, $25,277 was deposited, mostly from the puppy mill case in Mystic.

3.  Groton's purchasing agent recently met with the Economic Development Commission to talk about giving a preference to local companies during bidding. The group decided that companies with their main business in Groton would be considered local. The Economic Development Commission is expected to recommend to the Town Council in the near future that a preference be given to Groton companies.
