Five Things To Know Today

The Superintendent's Evaluation, Financial Reporting And The Library's TV Show

1.  Today is Monday, June 27.  The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies, a high temperature near 77 degrees and some clouds tonight. The low will drop to 61 degrees this evening.

2.  The Groton Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. today in the school administration building to discuss its evaluation of Superintendent Paul Kadri. The discussion is expected to take place in executive session, and will follow the regular board meeting. Topics on the regular agenda include the high school chemistry and biology curriculums, and payments for substitute teachers.

3. Groton was recognized for its financial reporting during this past fiscal year, according to a report by the town manager.  The report said Groton received a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.  The town is one of 56 Connecticut municipalities to receive the award.

4.  Groton Public Library’s TV show @yourlibrary, made it into the weekly newsletter of the American Library Association, and since then, the show has seen thousands more viewers, a report by the town manager said. In April, the monthly library talk show had 1,000 viewers and in May, it had more than 5,000.

5.  The Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa celebrates its 10th anniversary from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the hotel on North Road. The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is also marketing the event as a networking business after hours opportunity.
