Five Things To Know Today, Oct. 11

The Board of Education, Disaster Loan Outreach And Fairview Odd Fellows Home

1.  Today is Tuesday, Oct. 11.  The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies, a high temperature of 71 degrees and a low of 54 tonight.

2.  The Groton Board of Education's Committee of the Whole meets at 7 p.m. today in the board administrative building on Flanders Road. Topics will include the new middle school schedule.

3.  The Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Groton closed Oct. 6, but if you need help, you can still get it.  The center in New Haven will stay open until Thursday and is at The Beach House East Haven Town Beach, 160 Cosey Beach Avenue in East Haven. Hours are 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

4.  Fairview Odd Fellows Home of Connecticut is holding its 9th annual antiques and collectibles auction from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 in the Bromfield-Wilson Auditorium at Fairview on Lestertown Road. Auctioneer Daniel Buck Soules will auction the antiques, and desserts will be provided by local restaurants and bakeries. For more information, call David Brown at (860) 448-4722.

5.  The Mystic Woman's Club, a group from Southeastern Connecticut that encourages women to become involved in their communities, meets at 7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Mark's Church on Pearl Street. The gathering is a meet and greet for anyone who would like to learn more about the club and possibly become a member.
